About the Town of Paradise Valley

They met their goals – the prescient town founders helped ensure that the landscape of Paradise Valley would always retain its charm-filled ambience, a place where residents and guests will forever be able to savor the town’s serene surroundings, large open spaces and sensational views of magnificent urban mountains. Most homeowners also appreciate the fact that government oversight is minimal – the Town has a Council/Manager form of government and the Mayor, Council, Municipal Court judges and appointed members of boards and committees receive no compensation.

Education

Paradise Valley is located in the Scottsdale Unified School District which includes Cherokee and Kiva Elementary. Chaparral High School has consistently ranked in Newsweek‘s list of Best High Schools in America, and in 2007 Chaparral was one of only 12 schools ranked in Arizona. The high school holds the state record for having the most National Merit Scholars in one year (24 in 2000). Additionally, the school has also earned the record most in-state Presidential Scholars in Arizona, with 17 in 2003. Arcadia High School has an award-winning Advertising Art program and Arcadia High School is also host to an award-winning Media Communications program.

Parks & Recreation

Two hiking trails ascend 1,280 feet to the peak of Camelback Mountain. The Echo Canyon Trail is 1.2 miles and the Cholla Trail is 1.4 mi. The Cholla Trailhead is located at the end of Cholla Lane, which is off of Invergordon Street (N. 64th Street). While parking is prohibited on Cholla Lane, it is available on Invergordon Street, south of Cholla Lane. Both trails are considered strenuous with steep grades. The hiking path has dirt, gravel, boulders, and some handrail-assisted sections. Praying Monk is a red sandstone rock formation that is used for rock climbing. Located on the northern slope, the formation resembles the silhouette of a man kneeling in prayer.
